kikokat , I have # 1066X . It was in a lot ( so I've been told ) of 500 pistols that were to go to the military , but at the last minute transfered to the Treasury Dept / Secret Service / FBI type people . Was yours in that lot ?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Whoops , brain fart . That was my 2-inch Victory model that went to the Justice Dept. My 2-inch Colt ended up in Washington being carried by a military courier around DC . My Victory did the same duty , but on the civilian side . I wonder if they ever passed each other during then ? I also have a Colt 1903 that was issued to and carried by a military doctor in DC. He never could figure out why he had it as he was never going to shoot anyone , but orders were orders , so he carried it in a pocket in his briefcase / medical bag . It , too , could have passed by the other two during that time. Funny how they all ended up in Yuma.

    kikokat, those are beautiful.

What branches of services might have used these? I didn't know that they were actually issued. I have DS that looks very much like the 2" Commando. It was made in 64 though and it has a rounded stock at the bottom, not squared like this. And it's blued. But otherwise there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference. Which is kind of neat. I wonder what kind of holsters would've been used for people carrying these?
