    rear sights info

Good morning all, Diverdon here from Brockton Mass, with a question about rear sights.
I have a M1 Garand with a standard set of rear sights on it. I also have an M14icon with a lock bar rear sight on it. Both rifle serial numbers on the reciever place them being produced in the mid 1950's. I am building an M1 Garand with a Springfield Armory reciever from the CMPicon, and am wondering which sights to get-Lock Bar or standard, is there a more correct sight to use on the M1 Garand? I guess my main question is! Does it matter wich one is used? I am building this rifle to use at the local Rifle Range for fun and maybe a little hunting up north.

Any info or guidence would be appreciated.

    Thnanks from Diverdon!

I had a new style rear sight work on my M1icon for years . No problems till I shot in a match . Wouldn't hold elevation and I went into the berm during rapid fire. Had some people at the shoot readjust it for me and it worked fine till the next shoot , then it did it again. I went to lockbars after that and have never looked back. I like thier looks better and now that I don't shoot against a clock , I have the little extra time it takes to adjust them .
I'd say use the one you like , no real difference at the range or in the field.

    M14 or M1Aicon

SA inc. used lockbars because of fit issues

Either design will work well if properly fitted
