Need help finding a LER mount for my M1891 Remington MN

I bought one of the mounts advertized a being for the M91 and other models. It won't work on my M1891 made by Remington in 1917. The space in the sight base is only about .312" wide. The mount I bought is much wider. Even if I milled it down to size the screws that hold it to the sight base will not fit through the sight pin hole. The reason for wanting a scope is eye sight. Any Ideas will be appreciated.
