Swedish M96/38 test drive

I broke loose this morning for a little mental health time at the range. I brought with me the M96/38 I got a few weeks ago along with some Ingram 139 gr FMJ. I noticed the hight setting on the little dial thing on the rear sight didn't jive with the bullet holes at 100 yards, plus the front sight had been replaced with a big hookie square piece of brass that took up most of the sight picture. Once I got past those issues I was able to knock off a bunch of 3 and 4 inch groups off the hard rest. I had a couple of six inchers but that was do to the nut holding the gun. I figure once I get the sights squared away I might be able to break into smaller groups, again off the hards rest. Just a word about bench rests, I've had 5 back surguries to date and have more hardware back there than a VW beatle. If I was going to continue to shoot I had to come up with a rest that takes up the shock of the rifle. I made a fully adjustable rest using 80/20 extrusion, 2 round vee notch pieces of hard rubber and one piece of flat rubber for the butt hold. Everything is adjustable so I can shoot pretty much anything in it and have near absolute repeatability. I've shot guns I built 10 years ago that shoot ragged holes and got the same results off this rest. For me, it saved my first passion, shooting.
