If you take look at the middle picture of the ones that I posted, you will see the SA mark. (I'm not sure if someone has confused my pictures with yours?)

The South Africans seem to have looked after their rifles. A fellow member of HBSA has one of my rifle's brothers and it is in almost pristine condition.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Indeed, a confusion. It's possible to do in a couple of ways. The less obvious manner is to keep enlarging thumbnails by clicking the "next" arrow in an early post and see photos from a later post on the same page.

acepatt, your LSA shows no sign in your photos of South African ownership.

South African ID is based on the "U" with a broad arrow in it: "Union of South Africa".

Watch eBay for a forend and ask around here.

Edit: Whoops! Was looking at the wrong photos, sorry acepat.

“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.
