There was a big run on M16 parts kits for the last year and I'm not sure who still has them. I've used a number of commercial lowers and for AR builds and if you are going the retro route NodakSpud is unbeatable. Depending on the rifle you are going to put together you need to decide if you need a no fence, partial fence, full fence A1 lower or an A2 if you are building a later version. The best place to find what type of lower went on what rifle go to the Retro Black Rifle site, great information.

Here is my New Jersey version of a 'retro' M16.... "AR15s" are banned in NJ, so unless you registered one in 1991 you can not have one. Removable magazines and pistol grip are two of the total of two "bad" things you are allowed. I have a 'duck bill' flash hider for this project, but can not install it. The device on the end of the barrel is a Cavalry Arms compensator, pined and welded. Upper is an old Colt 603, lower is a No Dak Spud 601. bayonet stud has been removed. Magazine is blocked and rivited to 15 rounds. Still, it's my "greenie"

more early items
Early Mitchell Arms 75 rd drum for the AR-18/180 and AR-15, some of these drums worked out well while others had problems but still a collector item.
Early 223/5.56 headstamps - note the 222 SPL
Early four digit SP1 with green plastic for an outside photo to show the green color -plastic is original. Also note the early navy blue sling used by Colt on their early SP1 rifles

Nice, but you should replace that Fulton Armory stock.

Already have, that's an old pic. I replaced the Fulton Armory stock with a Type D no trap door stock.

I've wanted an A1 for a while, but built this A2 clone since its what I used when I was in the Corps.

Man that one looks almost exactly like the one I was issued ony yours is way nicer than mine was. No full auto position on yours and it's all one color. Nice rifle, it brings back some memories from way back.
