Lightbulb A Short Tour Of Three Humped Enfields

With thanks to krinko, a new addition has been added to the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here).

A Short Tour Of Three Humped Enfields (click here).

I used to think that with collecting Lee-Enfields, we were relatively immune to fakery, as the pricing was low enough you would think nobody would see a lot of value or return on time investment, in proportion to the amount of work needed to deceive someone. I figured it was something that was going to remain in the world of K98kicon collecting and other German wartime paraphernalia. I guess I was wrong.

    Regards,
    Badger

Good article but all information attributing this activity to any one person is circumstantial and should be editted out.

Regardless good information to know that enfields are going up in price sufficiently that devious people out there are collecting or building parts guns, force matching the numbers and selling them under false pretenses (at a higher price of course).

Apart from fraud coming to mind these rifles have a significantly greater chance of being dangerous. Mixed parts slapped together by someone whom is not a qualified gunsmith has a much greater chance of issues due to improper head spacing or even utilizing unsafe spare parts.

This is what makes an informative site dedicated to ex-service rifles so important.

In the US, there is a provable "chain of custody" for every firearm not classified as an antique, or involved in a private sale.
This chain is provable through Bound Book entries which all US 01 licensed dealers and 03 C&R licensed collectors are required to keep.
So the email I have from the seller claiming a "Springfield Sporters---AFAC---krinko" chain of custody for a rifle with a removed import mark is easily proved true, should anyone like to buy a boat for a lawyer.
There are other more pressing reasons why claims of "legal action" are eyewash as well, but they aren't really germaine to the issue.

    Insults and Slander

Mr. Krinko went out of his way to insult Mr. Peter Laidlericon a Britishicon Armourer and author at Jousters and his lack of respect and insults to both Mr.Laidler and the people who enjoy his posting go beyond reason.

Mr.Krinko’s article on humped rifles is nothing more than a sting operation to gain fame and notoriety for himself.

Why would an experienced collector as smart as Krinko claims to be buy a rifle from a supposedly known con artist, and why did he buy this rifle when someone told him not to buy it. (think about it)

I’m not condoning internet theft but I care even less for his personal sting operation, his methods and his altitude toward other people in our forums.

Below are Krinko’s own comments about Mr. Laidler after he was missing from the forum for a few days and judge for yourself what his motivation are in writing this article.

(Below, krinkos coments after an heated disscussion between Mr. Laidler and another forum member and Mr.Laidler had not posted for a few days, the topic was “what happened to Peter and Goo?”)

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH....
    Classic Little Tin God behavior.
    Cowboy Up, Pedro!
    krinko

(Below, Second question asked about where is Mr. Laidler and Goo - krinko thinks very highly of himself and doesn’t think we should read Mr.Laidlers postings or be part of his “cult following”)

Re: Seriously, what happened to Peter and Goo?

    Paravil,
There are recognized standards of human behavior and they are not suspended just because one has one's head stuck in the little box we call the internet.
If you really do not understand the reference to "little tin god", how about if I restate the proposition?
Try "Dying Diva", "I'm Taking My Ball And Going Home" or how about "You Won't Have Richard Nixon To Kick Around Any More"? At one point, before I became acerbic, even I began to get email from would be cult members, saying "You're so wonderful, may I give you a tongue bath?"
Not being fond of saliva, I declined, but the danger to my sanity was there, very real.
It is very important for the proposed leader of a forum Cult Of Personality to politely but firmly discourage this kind of behavior and get the enthusiastically obsequious sort standing again on their back legs.
    For the common good.

(Internet theft maybe, but it stinks of someone stroking his own vanity)

Without taking sides, what I see posted about Peter Laidlericon amounts to personal rudeness, but not accusations of fraudulently misrepresenting rifles.

As a message to all posting in this thread: Please do not engage in personal attacks on character here or I will be forced to delete people's posts - something I am loathe to do being a fan of free speech. This thread is to discuss rifle humping, not personal disagreements between individuals.

To Ed: I would suggest e-mailing these sort of concerns to the site admin (badger@milsurps.com) rather than making these kinds of statements in the public domain.

I am all in favor of letting "Ed" wave his boxers around in public---may everyone observe the glorious used underwear!

He had two attack threads deleted from gunboards and has another going at Culvericon's, where the regulars are practically begging him to stop...so why not here, too?
This thread won't be about humped rifles for very long.

I said it elsewhere and will repeat it here:
I don't care what he says.
I don't care what he does.
