I don't want to pi55 on your parade mtbiker but two words of advice. 1) don't shoot it with the bayonet on it as with the bayonet fitted, it will upset the harmonics of the barrel such that it wouldn't hit a cows ars........, er....., bottom with a tennis bat and 2) don't dare to shoot it with that scope because the first thing is that the eye relief is marginal with the REAL scope and yours gives it NEGATIVE eye relief which, in short, indicates a whack across the top of the eye/bridge of the nose called 'snipers eye. You only ever get it once, but with that eye relief..........., or negative........ or total lack of eye relief, will give you several snipers eye's all at once.
The sling is a bog standard webbing rifle sling that is actually better than the genuine leather sling, but it should be a US style leather two-piece sling. It doesn't look like the number on the telescope bracket matches the serial number on the rifle.
I'm sure that the telescope calibration won't even nearly match the ballistic trajectory of the old .303" ammo that the rifle shoots

Wow, all positive, thanks. Feel free to **** on or **** off. I never shoot my milsurps with the bayonets, even the Mosins which is how you are supposed to fire them. I knew what I was getting into with this gun minus the original scope. I will fire it with this scope and eye relief seems to be just fine but will let you know from the hospitial if things go to ****. Eye relief seems to be between 3 and 4 inches and seems to me to be plenty. Just plain happy to have one is all.

Funny you should mention snipers eye Pete, just got back from the NQ Queens, saw a bloke there shooting F class, very interesting circular cut that just wouldn't stop bleeding.
Oh yeah, nice rifle.

Education on the stock markings anyone? There are a ton of them on this rifle's stock.

Nice find, well done.
Thats a decent scope too, it should give you decent shooting until you locate an original.
Let us know how it shoots.

mtbiker, a word to the wise. This is probably the most polite site on the internet when it comes to firearms.
Advice is freely given to help and if you disagree that is OK, however using **** in the context you did to express dissatisfaction is generally unacceptable.
Nothing personal.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

RJW...... you've lost me! Just how can you get decent shooting with a telescope where the ocular end is already 1.5" or so to the rear of the standard telescope. A good/decent telescope doesn't mean decent shooting in this case. You've got to have the correct eye relief and you've got to be comfortable.
If you want your eye up to or close to a telescope you need three things: A prismatic telescope, a strong constitution in order to accept the inevitable snipers eye - or a rifle that doesn't recoil. Just my view due to my limited experience in these matters

If yours is limited, I'd like to see what an expert's looks like!
