Was there a sniper version of any intermediate length Mauser?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Yes, during the Bosnian conflict many intermediate length Mausers were used in the sniper role. The 2 I saw were M48's with Russianicon and Germanicon glass.

The 03 high hump may be an issue as the M48 does not have that hump. Any 03 Turk I have ever seen with a scope has had the hump milled off. My last comment is this, 03 Turks are sought after actions because of the ease to which the are rebarreled to other calibers I would either keep the Turk as original as possible or find a Mauser that has been drilled and tapped for a scope already. Also most Turks I have had the pleasure to be around are in less than pristine condition. If yours is good enough to be a repro/sniper then I would consider it far above average and put it back for safe keeping as it will appreciate in value. Drilled and tapped will be of no value except for Joe Gunsmith looking for a donor action. In the end though it is your gun and your money and you can do whatever makes you happy!
