    DCRA no.4 question

    hello all,

I've been trying to track down info regarding this and have turned up nothing yet.

My question, were DCRA conversions done at Canadianicon Arsenals only done on Longbranch rifles? and if not how were they selected for coversion?

I am looking at one but it is a M47 BSA so I am wondering if this is a legit CA conversion.

    Thanks in advance.

Members could send in any make of action for the work provided the arsenal felt it was safe to continue the work. I have one or two that are not Long Branch manufacture. One has the factory hang tag with the owner's name.

They were done on other makes as well but the letter stated that they preferred LongBranch rifles and if memory serves me correct, the LB would get priority. There was a letter sent out and someone might still have a copy of it around. I will check and ask.
Rifles were shipped through the DCRA office in Ottawa.....

Paul and Warren are correct. I have a ROF(F) No.4Mk.2 that's a legitimate DCRA 7.62 conversion and I've seen a few other non-Long Branch rifles over the years.

I've owned several 7.62 DCRA conversions:

    BSA No4MkI

    Fazakerly No4MkI
    Fazakerly No4Mk2

    Maltby No4MkI

    Savage No4MkI*
    Savage No4MkI/3

    Long Branch No4MkI*
    Long Branch No4MkI/3

The DCRA conversion number and CAL "duckfoot"/"rolled maple leaf" P proof is on the top of the bolt handle,
The right side of the barrel knox form
The right side of the receiver ring

Sometimes the receiver ring markings are under the wood level and not visible until the action is removed from the stock. Usually the knox form marking is visible once the rear hand-guard is removed.

Have and have had several that were built on UF55 actions, two "PARKER HALE BIRMINGHAM" marked on the receiver ring.
