Marcus......... I mean the Maze King has shared some pictures by E-mail with me.
Shows a long stem without the cut away flat spot.
Even shows the nipple on the very bottom of the stem.
I'm convinced it is a early one modified to a Type II.
I wish they would have stuck with the longer stem. A light dap of grease and the plunger head stays in place making the put together so much easier than the shorter stem.

I have seen several long stem plungers but I do not think they were as long as yours. But longer than the standard length. I'll have to dig some.

I've been mulling over
if the longer stem would improve function. It seems like it should but apparently it wasn't a necessity. Could be that with a build up of carbon, powder residue etc in the hole it might actually hinder its function.

Might hinder function..... Is a point I'd agree with.

Marcus,
I can see that it was blued after the modification.
Thx,

I found this photo, don't remember where I got it. I have an early Inland with a cone shaped plunger with a long shank. It is very tight in the spring and I do not have a photo of it without the spring.
