During World War II, thousands of Canadians worked hard to defeat Nazi Germanyicon and Imperial Japanicon.

While the men did the fighting the women made armaments in factories across the country. In Mississauga, Small Arms Limited, just west of the village of Long Branch, turned out No.4 rifles and Sten guns.

On Saturday, September 29, 2012, you can meet some of the women war workers from Small Arms, along with re-enactors dressed as members of the 1st Canadianicon Parachute Battalion and US paratroopers, and see some of the hardware used to bring about victory, including an M4 Sherman tank.

very cool, I might just make one of my infrequent trips to Toronto for this.
On a related note, my grandmother worked at one of the Ajax munitions plants.
    cheers, Jim

    Open House

here are some pics from the open house sep 29/12
nice to talk to one of the original gals that worked there and listened to a presentation from the grandson of J.A.D. McCurdy (pilot of the Silver Dart, 1st flight in the Britishicon Empire 1909)

The Sherman belongs to the Ontario Reg't museum in Oshawa, got a video of it loading up for the ride back across Toronto and think i might get to their last "Tank Days" for the season Oct 13

damn, guess i screwed up not getting pics of a couple nice rifle displays inside, there was a beautiful No. 4 T beside a new killer looking .338 Lapua
    sorry
