M1A1 on GB. This is a reproduction?

I thought only USGI butt plates had the cast in numbering?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I don't know much about Folders, but might it be possible that the wire or maybe just the Butt plate would be USGI?
Butt plate possibly a NOS used on this?

More specifically, the butt plate has a cast in number shown. Am I to understand that Italians made butt plates just like those of USGI with the star and number?

You can send the Italianicon folding stocks to guys that will "enhance" it to look more original. I know they change the contour of the wood on the left side, replace the rivets, add "aged" looking leather, and also acceptance stamps, etc. I don't know if they are changing the buttplates, but it's possible. I don't think the one on GB has the Italian handguard. - Bob

In the number, don't the 4, 7 and the 1 look identical?

The casting position number doesn't appear to be straight. Maybe it's my screen.
