    He is probably an instructor demonstrating for the camera. I think I've seen this same guy in a number of Marine period photos.

    In reply to a previous qustion of mine concerning a friend's (very small in stature) father being issued a BAR in Korea. It was pointed out to me that the smaller man made a smaller target for a weapon that would draw more fire. Makes perfect sence to be and seems to be born out by many photos I have seen with shorter/smaller guys with the beast BAR.
