Notice the dramatically shortened butt stock, the checkered pistol grip, and the 1903 sling swivel band.

Thanks for the great pix! I made one for my collection 30 years ago -- went up to SA and examined theirs up close, then made it exactly the same. In those pre-National Park Service days, access was a lot easier.

Bob - glad you liked the photos! Why did they use the '03 band? Why not just go with the Garand icon

Darn, I have a 36" sleeve length. Would hate to use that short buttstock! Might be the same length as the carbien, but look at it inrelation to the trigger! Just my .02

I made mine from a CMP icon

less wood Danish icon

return, regular length stock, and a .30-06 Tanker Kit from Numrich. The metal was parkerized by Tim Shufflin.

Chief's got the one most of us recognize as the version available today. I don't think I'll ever bother though. The flash and blast are somewhat objectionable to me and they cost more around here.

I have an Arlington Ord in the style above in 30-06 . I take it out for the shock and awe effect. If I mount the Ron Smith muzzle brake on it , it is till a little shorter than normal , but the kick is so light that anyone who can lift it can handle it easy.
