    Question about Radway-Green Ammo

Recently I aquired a couple of cans of RG/89 Ammo. Original cans, seals intact. Newer non original stenciled on top of the cans in white paint it says "COND D1". I assume this is Condition D1. If so, what exactly is the meaning of Condition D1 ?

It all depends on many variables but I don't think I'm at liberty to discuss the matter further

Well Peter, it must not be to big of a secret. Besides the Ammo I asked about I also have a 720 Rnd. un-opened crate of RG 7.62x51 NATO that has as manufacturing date of 1-28-94 on the front side and in big black letters on the back side it says "SHELF LIFE FEB 2004". So using my limited math skills I'd say the answer is "bing" - Ten Years.

I'm afraid that it doesn't QUITE work like that Charlie. But that life were THAT simple. As I said, there are many variables. In the last few years we were using some belted 7.62 RG69. Some .303" ball in the 90's was RL52 and RG55. As I said, life ain't that simple

Peter, I did 21 years in the military here so I do have a pretty good idea how it works . Just letting you all know what was stenciled on the crate. I didn't put it there, RG did and I'm sure there was some official reason for doing so. Don't know how it is in the UKicon, but here there is a Mil Spec for everything including packaging and labeling.
