Yep, Pakistan Ordnance Factory (Hence "POF")

Standard Mk7 ball - 174gn FMJ flat base, cordite loaded, Berdan corrosive primers.


The "CIA (P)" does refer to an an official government body, but NOT the same one over in Langley (although THEY will probably would have had people over there too!)

"CIA (P)" is Chief Inspector of Armaments (Pakistan).

Many people have found that POF stands for "percentage of failures", it is often click..bang, and in some cases click ...............................bang and even click .................................................. ............................

It has a double tape seal that hasn't been cut or opened, and the guy at the surplus place advised me not to open the box, but once again thanks to all

Was it worth $40 for 32rds? Not hardly. Aside from being real Mk.7 ammo theres nothing particularly special about it. Sportsmans Guide was selling this P.O.F. stuff 4-5 years ago for $60/160rds, IIRC. That works out to $12/32rds. A friend and I bought 25 boxes, all dated 8 Nov. 1967. Horrible stuff, expect 6-7 hangfires and duds out of every magazine full. I don't even try to shoot it anymore. Last deer season I dismantled a couple boxes of it and reloaded the cordite/bullets into new cases with good primers(tedious chore!) to shoot in a No.4T just to experience what it was like to fire one with the correct ammo. It's quite accurate accurate when it goes off like it's supposed to and those Mk.7 bullets are very effective on deer.
