Questions about the Remington 03A3's safety

I recently inherited a remington 03A3 from my grandfather. The date stamped on the barrel is 6-43. In researching these rifles I have noticed the safety on most of them switched back and forth across the rear of the bolt. My safety is on the right side of the bolt and only flips up 45 degrees [See photo].

Why is mine different? Did my grandfather change the safety or was it built like this? If it was built like this, why can't I find any other 03A3 with a similar safety?

That is a commercial safety, and looks like a Buehler. It was normally done in order to mount a scope on the rifle, or a more convenient safety for a hunting rifle.

Is the receiver fitted with scope mounts? The bolt handle has also been altered to clear a scope.

There is some kind of mount on the back, from what I can tell. So yeah, it looks sporterized from what I gather.

I was just going by the picture. Sorry about that. I think I can see a weaver mount, mounted on the rear. But no, it's not mine. Didn't mean to be confusing.

Yes, the rifle does have a scope mounted to it. I removed the scope to take the picture.

out of curiosity, how has the bolt handle been altered?
The bolt handle has been heated and bent and reshaped to clear a scope when cycled, or possibly cut off and a replacement welded on. An original bolt would not require notching of the stock.
