    Comical ads on Gunbroker

I am usually more active on the Lee-Enfield board, but I just needed to post the links below for a couple of auctions that I ran across.

This seller seems to be able to find and copy history of the rifles that he has to sell, but his rifles don't quite match up with the history.

The first is an M1D with an interesting way to mount a scope:

SNIPER USMC WW ll Korea : Semi Auto Rifles at GunBroker.com

Second up is an M1Aicon that "has seen combat":

VIETNAM M21 SNIPER : Semi Auto Rifles at GunBroker.com

His starting prices are a bit "optimistic"!!

    Enjoy!!

What's with the full auto parts accompanying the M1Aicon? That ought to be fun to try to install...

Actually, if he's selling full-auto parts along with the rifle they could be used in, the BATFE might not look too favorably at that.

Yup, the pics show all the full auto stuff, connector, selector and shaft and the spring I think. Two or three sets. This might bear watching. Maybe BATF will wait for the sale and net two tigers at once...

Why? A M1Aicon can't except the parts. Multiple company's sell the full auto parts so you can mount on the stock and look the part. They are all ATF legal.

Good, but don't ask me because I didn't start that. Ask oneshotonekill why they would jump on the seller. Maybe in his state they do. In Canadaicon the parts are outlawed. Supposedly 10 years for each part. In the US, who knows? State by state. The point is, the parts don't go with the gun.

i'm jumping in late with a comment here but re. the scope issue.... just had to ask what the photog had to do with it being mounted backward????? and why not have the "pro" gunsmith fix it before reposting the ad?
and as others have said, are those "starting prices" just a little rediculous or am i just a naive new kid here? just surfing the forums, not usually on here but do appreciate the "pic of the day"
    regards, Jim

While its true that "parts" for a full-auto are legal to own and it's also true that you can't make an M1Aicon full auto simply by trying to put those parts in it, I can tell you from personal experience that a partially educated BATFE Agent can make a case out of anything. Years ago I had an AR15 that I installed an M16 trigger group in. I wasn't thinking about it a year later when I decided to try to sell the rifle at a Gunshow. A potential buyer opened the rifle and noticed the M16 parts in it and told me I better get outa there with my rifle because the BATFE was running around inspecting AR's and arresting people who had M16 parts in them. I got stopped on the way out and was nearly arrested. If it wasn't for the fact that I was young at the time and came across as not knowing the parts were in there or how they got there... And that I told them I wasn't there to sell the rifle, I probably would not be able to own firearms today. Needless to say, the parts were confiscated and I went home with my tail between my legs. At least I got to keep my rifle.
