    Sarco reproduction 1903 Springfield triggerguard

I bought one of those reproduction 1903 Springfield trigger guards from Sarco. It cost me $67.50 plus shipping. What was I thinking? It was advertised to be exactly like the original. I’m disappointed on two counts. First of all the shape of the trigger loop is quite flat on the bottom not the smooth oval shape like the original. I considered heating it and reshaping it but because it looks to be a casting I’m not sure what would happen. I’ve straightened out some bent originals but the repro cast issue makes me hesitant. The other issue was that the floor plate was pitted like it sat on the ocean floor since WWII. Anyway, I'm passing this along so that no one else wastes their money. I have seen other posts about crappy parts from this company. I have had some success with them in the past however they must be scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to 1903 parts. I’ll find my parts elsewhere in the future.

Both Sarco and GPC are "famous" for selling large numbers of "reproduction" GI parts - almost always without noting the fact that they are reproductions in their ads. For $67.50 and a little looking, you could have found a "real" one.

I believe CID had a detailed list of the repro parts he has noticed - maybe he'll post it here.

More commonly known as "Scapco" many honest dealers will not do business them. I gave up years ago on them and do business with Springfield Sporters, Bill Ricca and the Dealers Warehouse. All sell orginal parts at fair prices.

Numrich has similar problems. I bought an upper band/bayonet lug they advertised on Ebay. In email exchanges they represented it as old, milled reproduction made in the USAicon, available in blue, which is what I ordered. Got the piece the other day and it is obviously cast and very rough. It will be going back to them. I have already purchased an original from Dupage Trading at a great price.
Almost ready to put my project together for photos.

If my memory serves me right I think Bill had a few spots on his webs site that compared the common repro parts. Excellent information, he even had photos that showed exactly what to look for.

Liberty Tree Collectors usually has decent original parts as well, though they are a bit spendy in my experience. Some of the GPC stuff is OK as well, but you need to know what to order, and more importantly, what not to order.

Thanks to everyone for the comments and alternate parts sources. I have since located an original triggerguard that will work perfect for this project. Salt Flat

I've had the same problem with Numrich. I bought a "C" stock from them and they asssured me it was a GI NOS stock. When I got it, it was a reproduction and they got insulted because I told them they lied to me.
