My NOS 1903A3 "C" stock arrived in beautiful condition

There comes a time when good things happen...

I just had an eagerly awaited package delivered to me. I opened it, and inside of it was an original carton containing a 1903A3 Springfield "C" stock that I just bought. It is a NOS GI and it has probably been in that carton since the 1930's (my imperfect gestimate).

The stock is in perfect condition only needing some tender love with four ought steel wool and linseed oil.

Now, if I can just dig up two more, to replace the stocks on my two other 1903A3's that some Bubba ruined the stocks on...!

Did I say that I really dislike Bubba gun hobbists?

Is there a "K" stamp in the cut-off? Keystone made many nice "C" stocks for the 03-A3 in 1945. You may well have one.

Nice gun...I wonder if he was aware of the steel screw directly under the compass? Did you find it while hunting Jake? On the body of a lost hunter?

Hey, don't laugh. My Dad got a DCM 03A3 for me while I was in high school. I wanted a "C" stock and so I mowed lawns to save up $7.00 for the stock. When it arrived my Dad insisted we cut the "C" stock to sporterize the gun. He would not leave it or me alone and I finally agreed to cut the stock. It looks very much like that one pictured and I was just sick about it. He never bothered to replace that stock and years later I bought a "C" stock to fix that mess. It still bothers me!

But at the time Steve, they were common and the older guys didn't see any value in them. My dad did that with a 1916 BSA #1 Mk 3 LE with good finish and nice bbl. Years later I was able to replace the wood from another BSA one year different.

It came out of an old WWII Navy vets estate. Go figure! The guy had a room in a barn full of bubba guns. Some rusted. After WWII the millsurp stuff was every where. They even published magazines on how to sporterize them. But by some I've seen Bubba couldn't read. I bought this one and returned it to severice condition. I bet she had a few stories to tell around the fire at deer camp in her day.

Yes, there is a upper case K, stamped in the magazine cut off recess...

I paid a high price for this stock. However, looking at it again, just a few minutes ago, I think the pleasure of owning such a blemish free stock makes it well worth the price.

Compared to the Bubba that had his paws on my two 03A3 stocks, your Bubba stock maker was a Ph.D stock maker... The two 1903 stocks that I want to replace are butchered so bad, that I would have bought your stock as a replacement.
