I thought about putting a buy it now price of $2100 and if he was serious he could just buy it no? I only have less then 2 days and was looking forward to seeing some bids but after reading your above comments maybe I should do the buy it now option. Help
If no one has bid on an item, you can end it, if someone has already bid, you can`t. If I were you, I`d contact the person & tell him to bid the $2100 & win it, or wait until the auction is finished, then buy it from you. As always with these online auctions, never send the item to the person before you have the green in your hand.

Well I changed it to buy now 2100 and he being true to his word he bought it, and I'm happy but sad all at the same time. The chance of finding another old old rifle the way we found this one is millions to less than 1 in my opinion. But I'll be looking trust me.

I know how you feel, but you really got a very good price. Congratulations on the work you put in, the result you achieved and the (financial) reward for it all

And in all likelihood you found the one person in the US willing to pay such a sum. I'm pretty sure it has found the best home without expanding to a worldwide market.

What do you think are the chances he has been lurking in the background on your thread for a while?

Yes I wonder? Could he be a member here? When he asked me for more pictures I told him to check the thread and see all the pictures good and bad and after he said he was still interested. I felt I had to be up front with the story and really the wood was the only all be it main issue. Oh well another chapter closed.

Thanks again to all who helped me and participated in the thread.

    Congratulations Dave.

In my opinion, both you and the buyer did well. He won't find another one like it.

Thanks. I just came from answering your PM.

I still can't believe I'm parting with it. I have many but this one was truly special and one of a kind. I will always cherish the time with all of you as we burned the mid night oil trying to figure out what it was. And then just what to do with it. I could not have done it with out you all.
    Thanks a million, Dave

Congrats Dave, I'm glad everything went smoothly and I hope the new owner enjoys. These don't come up for sale very often.
