New guy question (National Match Garands)

HI, I have visited this site for a while to glean info on various subjects posted here.
    Now I have a question.
Who here is the resident expert on type 2 National Match Garands ?
I have one with a serial # over 6 mil.
I am trying to determine true retail value in todays market because I am considering selling to purchase other firearms .
It has a piece of paperwork from the DCM showing shipping from and to, serial # , condition and that it is a N.M.

    Sir,

To many a first time poster asking such a loaded question appears to be trolling, I may be in the minority, but take your question elsewhere...please. (see, I was nice)

My very best friend (>40 years) and shooting companion is a licensed home inspector, for an expert opinion it's cash up front and then the report, after all, you're looking to make money and use the experts opinion to base your selling price, only fair it seems.

It is a tough question without pictures. CMPicon has been selling real NM's at decent money. You might look at their auction site. Late 6 million Garands are their own collector field. So you have asked a 2x tough question. The paperwork and the original box are worth extra money, as well.

    ?

Hey sarge 1998 thanks for the heads up..I can understand why you have that moniker"sarge" I did not realize this was such a touchy subject to you and your like. :thrown:
I han not visited this site for some time, but had just received an email from "administration" that I had not been there in a while and to please come back to use it, well I did just that.
I realize that my questions were very specific , and did ask for a resident expert, I did not expect an exact # value just what could be expected in todays marketplace. I have asked elsewhere and unfortunately have yet to have anyone with "expert" knowledge give a valuation. Did not realize I was expected to pay you, your friend, or anyone else on this forum for their opinion.
Troll ? What a thing to call someone without knowing him, don't ask a question back, just call names and make accusations .
    browningautorifleicon, same to you.
One does not find , in my experience an expert on this subject in local gun shops. This is why I reached out here. AND I will not send it out for evaluation due to possible damage or loss in transit.
If there is not an "expert" on what I asked on this site , ok .
Calif-Steve , i understand that, got one sheet of DCM paperwork, no box, Rifle is in excellent condition, If you are , or have expertise on this variety Garandicon , please say so and I would be most happy to e-mail you detailed pics for evaluation. Or PLEASE point me to the right person here. Thank you.
Thanks for the friendly welcome , and all the helpful info.
NO, I don't have thin skin, in fact I like a good discussion, but ....Really?

I guess a better response would be to ask you what you paid for it, then you can get some reply's as to if you have got a good deal or not. You use Gunbroker so I would guess you tried to search that site and didn't get what you're looking for. Check Scott Duff's site, maybe he has one listed and you can get a clue.
And wagging your finger is rude. You're the guy nobody knows who walks in the room and shouts "Who's in charge here"? I do appologize for the troll comment, you're something different.
Why do you remind me of Amsdorf?

There is a Type 2 NM with a 6 mil serial number on G.B. at this time. It is a 1962 built NM with DCM sales documents. The asking price is $ 5500.00. I think this price is a bit high considering todays economy. I would put it in the high 3k to low 4K. I would also hope that anyone considering bidding would ask for alot more pictures including all NM marked parts and good pictures of stock bedding. Also pictures of the last 4 digits of serial number in both the barrel channel of stock and on trigger housing. Also a clear return policy. National Match M1icon Garand cal 30/06 With Papers : Curios & Relics at GunBroker.com

If it had the original box somewhat more, but for $ 5500.00 it would have to be a perfect example with ORIGINAL DCM docs and box. I am not an "expert" but that is my opinion. Experts on the N.M. rifle would, in my opinion, be Bob Seijasicon, Dave McClain and Scott Duff. You might do better selling through Scott Duff than on G.B. While Scott does charge a commission, he has quite a following of buyers who have no problem paying his price. When they buy from Scott Duff they can be 100 % sure that they are getting what they are paying for, not always so on G.B.

Sarge1998.. you're right I did not get an answer just suggestions referring to Scott Duff.. that's why I tried here.
I paid $600.00 for it in 1980. At that time it was a lot of money.. I was looking for some Realistic possible value as I said in todays market.
If you don't like the wagging finger icon, why don't you ask administration to have it removed from the available list offered at the reply area.
I did not shoot out who is in charge, I asked for a person who is knowledgable " an expert if you will" in this specific firearm. After all this is a much more specialized forum then GB.
Your apolagy is accepted for what it is. I may be something different to you , your comment as to a "Amsdorf" I assume is just another troll like comment from you.

JOE W< thanks for the info, your answer is gratefully acknowledged. I had visited Scott's website just last month just to look, he does have some really nice examples of the Garand there.
Are BOB and DAVE members here? Or do they have a website? Thanks again
