Post Need help on this barrel band

    Hello!

My name's Matteo, I live in Italyicon, and I own a Rock-ola M1icon early '44 I'm restoring to factory condition.

I'm writing beacuse I see you guys know a lot

I need some help to know if this barrel band that my m1 is mounting is fake or real.
It has no markings on it

my guess is it's a fake, since front and rear sights are fake also...

    thanks for your help!

    Matteo

I am going to say real also. It looks like the inner part of the band is reccessed back a little and most fakes are flush. If you remove the screw see if after doing so the band has a spring to it with the screw removed or not. An original should have a spring action to it when compressed. Hope this makes sense to you. The one hash mark as mentioned is a good sign as stated. I have a IBM that has two slash marks. I am unsure who used a single hash mark one.

The double slash bands were also used on later Inlands.

Could you post some photos of your rear sight (both sides of it.) and your front sight too. It may not be fake and the front sight is most likely a real one but just may be for a differnt make of carbine.
