If you have the barrel date correct, the barrel is from a M1903A3. They were not used in overhaul on M1903s by the U.S. Army and the barrel was installed by a former civilian owner.

Actually a large number of M1903 rifles sold here is "rearranged" with not original parts.

Coming Saturday I will go and see this SA M1903, it is all original also in the finish and above all in the stock and it comes at a reasonable price.

The last One is nice Bizio, it still has the original JFC marked stock aswell. I'd go for that one unless very expensive.

Wow, very little finish left on that last one you're looking at. Almost looks like a parade rifle. Hehehhee It's purdy still though.

Maybe it completely rusted and was cleaned too much

Finally I'm back with my SA M1903.
The rifle looks better than in the pictures the owner had sent me.
The original blued finish is almost gone everywhere but not in the lower side of the barrel and the action. The wood seems in good condition inside.
Despite of its external conditions, the barrel is shining like a mirror, that's incredible in a almost 100 years rifle.
The rifle has been imported to Italy in 2008 [CC] and it brings all Italianicon Testing proofmarks, that means that is has been tested with 3 rounds +30% extra power shot without crashing.

Here are all the pictures I just took so that You experts can tell me what you think about.
    Thank you again.

Looks like a nice (although worn, as you said) example of an earlier Springfield M1903. What is the barrel date? The D5 bolt might be a little "late" (maybe a year or two) but might be in the "margin or error".
