zz serial prefix No1mk3* dispersal/many pics

A few days ago I pulled out my enfields and this one I picked up years ago caught my eye. It is ftr marked in electropencil under the manufactures markings. It is in supurb condition inside and out with nice stove. What is this zz prefix serial? I checked the serial number list in my books and it isnt listed?

Here are some pictures I shot of the rifle Im talking about. JP

the ZZ serial number prefix (and later, the SA XX A xxxx series) was reserved for weapons where the serial number was obliterated, worn away oir otherwise illegible. When this occurred, the new ZZ number was allocated to the weapon from on high! That is the answer

I have a No.4 Mk.1 (T) with S/N# ASXXXX. Also stamped on the barrel knox. Does not appear to be an original S/N. Could this be a replacement number ?

In a word, no! You might have been a re-stamped number but the numbers allocated as new numbers were the ZZ's and SA's
