    It sure is in bad shape for an M1C...If the markings are fake, did he hokey up the age too? Manufacture rust by soaking it in brine? Just a beat up old lid?

    Yeah, it does look beat up, but thats the look I want. Just wanted to know if it's authentic, which I don't think it is.

    I say fake, looking at how beat up it is an it has lack of rust from viewing the pictures, By lack of rust I mean, it looks knocked around, and there isn't any paint that was actually knocked off, It looks like its been beaten painted then rusted. The other thing i don't like is the lack of pics, none of the inside, no real closeups of the seam, of any other parts of the heltmet. But for 40 bucks it'd make a neat isplay item regardless. FWIW

    Most rear seams are very late war after D Day. the lack of wear patterns makes me wonder if it was issued, worn arelund the base but not in the field and then put up in a barn and forgotten. I think it is real but post war.
