Ours don't look as pretty as Riflechair's.

She is not a DCRA rifle.
This job was done by a regimental armourer likely for the colonel's shooting team.
No glass bedding was involved except for the king screw channel. They did it by the CF book. They brazed the trigger guard and free floated the barrel. Here is the document that shows you how to match tune a lee Enfield Rifle.
Pay Special Attention to page 62 of 78
Quite impressive.
I have made detailed files and have become a Patrol Armourer to a certain extent. I have learned a lot from that chap that did my rifle. Too bad she is not mine! I love her to bits.
Not Patrol Spares.
We are not permitted to keep rifles that belonged to ex-Rangers.
All NES Ranger's have their weapons returned to HQ.
Sadly the worst of these rifles appear to get re-issued instead of stripped down for parts.
More often than not these rifles are in questionable condition as Patrols do not get issued fundametals like bore solvent. I have seen a lot of rusty Ranger rifles capable of nothing else than shooting a bear 25 feet in front of you.
Some of the worst rifles I have seen were still in Ranger Stores at HQ.
I consider myself EXTREMELY lucky to have been assigned the CNo4Mk1* that I have.
In BC we have a LOT of Patrols located on the coast. Lee Enfields and salt water do not mix. Especially when you are not issued oil or solvents.

Why I asked if they were spares was because of the excellent cond. they're in. Our rifles are much more "used" in appearance.

Well as the Patrol 2 I/C I pay speciasl attention to our rifles. Often I go out of pocket to pay for the things our patrol needs to maintain our rifles (like head space guages) and boiled linseed oil.
I don't mind.
I can't stand having an inspecting NCO freak out over an improperly cared for rifle. Not to mention I can't stand rifle abuse myself.

Sorry guys, no pics from the exercise.
It was -32 at 7am when we started walking in to our OP, hit a high of -25, and back down to -30 by 5pm. A good time was had by all.
