    S&w ar 15

Has anyone tried out the S&W AR 15 Sporter and have you had any problems with it? I am thinking of getting one for my granddaughter to shoot as she really likes my SP1 but I want to retire my SP1 and leave it in the safe for now.

I have talked to several folks that have them, and they love them. They only lack forward assists (which I have seldom, if ever, used in the last 40 years) and a dust cover. Sort of the basic SPi of today. Very light, too. Probably a good choice. I heard S&W has lifetime warranty on their ARs, but not sure if this is true.

Bruce, for what it's worth, I saw a number of full function ARs on my trip back to North Carolina last month in that $700.00 range. Walmart had a Colt for less than $800.00 on sale. My son and I went to a pawn shop there and I was amazed by the number of ARs and AKs this guy had. All brand new and all pretty inexpensive. RI is a "green" state on the sellers list so I would think you could get any one of them where you are. Just a thought.

Bruce, I saw a Colt 5.56 in Walmart in Medford Oregon yesterday, too. I could not see the price. I forgot to mention I had an S&W M4 clone about 4 or 5 years ago. It was a good little weapon. I decide to go "retro AR" though, and sold it off.
