    FN-FAL book request

Would you fine gentlemen recommend a book for an enquistive noob with intentions of researching before purchasing his first FN-FAL. I'd ask a more pointed question but I am hesitant to show my extreme ignorance on the subject. I know they're metric or inch and that I like original military and wood stocks.

    Thank You in Advance,
    BubbaTK

P.S. I have no plans to Bubba a FAL

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Depends on what you're out to learn...detailed FAL history? Notes on current receiver makers? General information?

Try to find a copy of Blake Stevens epic tome vis Collector Grade Publications.

Originally published as 3 x paperback volumes, it was later consolidated into a single, very hefty hard-back.

Not very well organised internally, but LOTS of good historical and general info.

Not a lot of hard-core tech stuff; try looking for factory / ex-mil armourours publications for that. Search the Net; you never know what you may find..

If you want to do your own "gun-plumbing" the cost of the specialised tools and jigs may give you severe "sticker-shock".
