    Type I shooters

Some time ago a seller on gunbroker had what appeared to be a new Type I barrel with chromed bore. Have any of you encountered such a thing on your type I rifles? I know mine isn't, but read somewhere, and I don't know where, that the reason many were in storage was that the Japaneseicon were planning on chroming the bores, but didn't get around to it. I don't know how thick chrome in a barrel is, but do know they have some big groove diameters as is. .269" in mine.

On second thought, it must not have been new, it had a serial # on it.
