I'm not familiar with the AO frt sights, but from looking at pictures, I'd think you could tap out the roll pin.
Just not sure if a GI pin would fit correctly.
Stand by, someone will be of more help.

What band is on the carbine now and is it original? The question is, why do you want to change bands? Obviously somebody has had the front sight off since the carbine left government custody, so I don't guess it matters in that respect, but you don't want to mess with it if you don't have to. Do not put a roll pin back in it. It takes a solid pin, and you should have the sight puller.

Read his post. It's an Auto Ord...they didn't do Govt carbines, just later stuff. He just wants to make it look the way he wants. These don't have any particular collector value.

Stick with the roll pin. That's the way AO designed it. Just don't try to use a worn punch. It should be a good one with nice sharp edges.

'Read his post. It's an Auto Ord...they didn't do Govt carbines'

The title tricked me, and it was no treat! You may know that AO made original carbine parts during the war. I thought he meant 'how to remove an AO sight' from a G.I. carbine.

BTW, BAR, I find your tone more than a little condescending. Who got your panties in a wad?

I don't wear"panties". I'm male. There's no tone. It's print. It reads. Get over it.
