MODS we need a "Pay it Forward' thread specifically for M1 Carbine stuff.

On AR15.com retro forum, there is a "Pay it Forward thread" for retro AR stuff. We need one for M1 Carbine (or that period's items, etc) stuff. We sort of have it with long time members through PMs, etc, but this would open it up to newer members.

Rules are simple:
Bill has an extra handguard for example, he offers it free including postage. I take it, and I offer up something M1 carbine since I take it. Say a nice Type III band cut to Type II or a recoil plate screw. The person who takes the type II band from me, then offers up something M1 carbine-ish, say a safety catch or maybe an empty WWII bandoleer, etc. If you take something, you MUST offer something in return. Even if you didn't get something from the board, but feel like being nice, you can offer something up that you have extra, then if you see something later you want, you have paid in.

It really builds a sense of helpful community. Over the years, I have never seen a single problem. It works so well that some folks who have nothing to give forward, will get the free item, saying they will pay it forward later, and they almost always do.

Although a nice thought, I'm not so sure it would be feasible. I think a lot of the folks that do this under the table so to speak would just as soon keep it that way. I have given a great deal of stuff away and have been given a great deal as well. Maybe a sticky? I don't know. Just thinking out loud.

BTW I got home late last night. We were only going over for the day but we ended up staying the night so I'll look at what I have today.

I haven't taken up geocaching yet, but have been thinking about it. It would be neat to find a geocache with carbine parts in an ammo box - take something and leave a part for the next guy. This could work if there were a number of members in a specific area. - Bob
