The irony of these half tracks is that we had them as REME light recovery vehicles, fitted with a large extendable jib that swung over the rear, well up until the very late 60's. Replaced by the 432/M113 variant called a 434 - or to us blokes, a '43 twice'

Also ironic that up until I left the UKicon in early 67, the Cheshire Regiment had two (three if you include the water bowser) of the little Bedford MW 15cwt radio trucks. Collectable now...... Replaced by 2 bloody great Humber 1 tons

    Fantastic project Andy

lol - hard to believe they were still being peddled in the 1980's. 40 years after being made. Wonder what the going rate was back then?

wiring done under dash. I wont get the speedo refurb'd for a bit, but the important one is in. I also have a ign switch, but im not happy with it, the hole diameter is 1 inch but the largest shaft size i can get to date is 3/4. I have found a few 1 inch ones but are no longer avail. I have to install the volt meter but wiring is there for it

I'd simply turn an adapter on the lathe and blend it in...then it drops in.
    Regards, Jim

Ok here is the latest shot of the dash, brass plauqes are on, ign switch is in, and starting/ign wiring checked.

Finally after years of looking at it, the engine was ready to fire. After filling the carb with some fuel, i couldn't get it to fire. After going thru ign, i found the coil was giving me fits, traced it to the point not opening enough in the distributor. Once i set it she fired. I did crank it a few times without coil wire and got 40 psi almost immediately

ya thats me, all the greys, and to think im 20 lol no not really but still under 50, either the halftrack or my wife is to blame

One thing i did a boo boo on, i didnt use high heat paint on the manifold, yep burnt off fast.

After checking everything, once it was running i got it to about 180, didn't go over yet, oil pressure was 40, and stayed there, and amp was just over half so all good. I was surprised it wasn't that loud without the muffler though

So I take it all the smoke at 1:30 is the exhaust header paint cooking off? You going to bother respiting with high-temp paint?

By the way, does this have a synchro tranny, or is it strictly double-clutch?
