Wow! A Mk.III-T. I've have to admit to never having seen one of those before. I bet that goes for big money.

Seriously, where do we start? I bid the use of Roman numerals for the mark number.

It is difficult to say with the limited photo's, only one of which shows any real detail of the receiver, but I have an awful feeling that this monstrosity may have been perpetrated on a genuine 4T. Look closely at the fit & finish of the front pad. I suspect it may be right, but 'improved' by the addition of the spurious characters, No5 flash eliminator etc. If so, it's tragic, as the muzzle can be sorted, but the stamped markings on the receiver are there for good, save for judicious TIG welding & an extensive refinish job.............

Moderator Note: After you click on images to ENLARGE them, you may find they automatically size smaller in your browser's window making them harder to view. The auto sizing is your browser's way of keeping images entirely within the screen size you have set. Move your mouse pointer to the bottom centre of the pic and you will see an options panel appear. There will be a small square box next to the large X, which will have a pointer arrow sticking out of it. If it's illuminated, it means the pic you're viewing can be enlarged, so click on this box and the pic will EXPAND and open to its normal size.

I'm always willing to learn but what's the point of putting a flash eliminator with bayonet mount onto the rifle when it's impossible to fit the bayonet to the thing when it's fitted to the rifle!

The markings appear to be overstamped after some scrubbing and a re-blue to the left side. Yes, the front pad screws seem to be about right but the whole thing smells to me. The front thing...well, whatever...Some of you have a great deal more experience here.

Thanks Geordie. I don't want to stick my neck out - some good close ups of the pads with the bracket removed from the rifle would have been nice, but I suspect it could be a real T that's been butchered. But please don't anyone buy it on my say so!
