Tonight in observance of "Veterans Day" TCM is showing the 1953 version of "From Here to Eternity". I have seen the movie many times over the years but I always get a chuckle when I see Burt Lancaster climbing the ladder to the barracks rooftop during the Japanese attack. When he starts up the ladder he and others are carrying M1918A2 BARs. When you next see them on the roof all the BARs have lost their bipods. If you watch close you will also see that the M1903 rifles are being fired with their "cut-offs" in the down or "Off" position.
Also, I believe this is one of the first films to unknowingly use the reversed copy of the 8mm film showing the USS Arizona exploding. The "Reversed" copy of this film has been used so many times over the last 70 years that many viewers are unaware that the correct image shows the explosion occuring to the viewers right.
Even with these "technical" errors it is still a great show.

I noticed a "technical error" in a video last night. The video is for the Vince Gill/ Allison Krauss song Whiskey Lullabye
M-14 salute at a 1947 funeral. Great though sad song I can overlook the error.
