    M1 Carbine WWII Case

    Hello,
a friend bought this case for M1icon Carbine.
It seems to be original of WWII era.
It has been repaired and we think its original sling has been replaced.
If yes, where do you think the replacement sling comes from ?
Is it an USGI sling ?

    Thank you.

I think it's all USGI, including the strap, but I don't know what the strap originally was for. It is dated 3-43. The only thing I find questionable on the bag is the attachment of the makeshift sling. I think it was done by civilians in Europe because of the thread color and somewhat haphazard stitching, but who knows? Could have been done at a repair depot in the field during the war, but it required a heavy-duty sewing machine, which would have been an unusual item.

The buckles on the sling look like they came off Britishicon or Canadianicon webbing. That's the kind we used.

I'd say a Britishicon Enfield sling.

No, not the sling. They're much heavier. Beaded on the edge too. The buckles came from 37 pattern webbing?? Maybe? The strapping is just that...

Two more cases, the former of 1943, the latter of 1944.

Talon zippers are typical, the other looks like the one on my Griswold. The hardware looks more like something that would come out of a US textile tech's bins...

    Sling

I believe the slings for these are unique to this rifle case. If anyone does find some; I'm looking for one. I thought about getting one off a reproduction carbine case but the webbing is noticeably inferior.
