A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. A well known, long time collector (RollingThunder on CMPicon forum) replied to a post regarding this rifle on the CMP forum. He stated that he had seen the rifle about 20 years ago and at that time it had a Arlington Ordnance import marking on the barrel. As far as I am concerned, what RollingThunder says can be taken to the bank.

That rifle is so fake it isn't funny. That WRA/WB is horrible and the cannons are bad enough for a blind person to know. Very sad the price it is bringing in. Rick Bicon

I don't have the expertise at all to judge M1icon Garands as many do here, but I'd sure like to hear some details of what's wrong with this one by those who are (Other than what looks like a new C/C)

    Harlan's answer

Like everyone has stated, the metal appears to have alot of refinish. There are some import things to look for - but are not shown in the photos.

The sight knobs are really too early for that serial number range, the flush nut has a really large slot and nothing is shown of the short (?) pinion - if these parts are fake you can subtract around $600 off the price.

You would think for a $5000 rifle there would be some "CM" marked parts and you would have an original color or even a faint original color on the gas cylinder and without a repro front sight screw seal. If the trigger housing has a large pad there are not any photos but another one could be purchased for $250 to $300. The stock has really poor repro stamps like Rick Bicon. stated and would cost about $2000 or more to correct or else just remove the fake stamps after you just spent $5000 on the rifle.
