I have done the boiling water cleaning many years ago however now just use products like Hoppe's 9, Wipe-Out etc. Probably takes more time to do it this way but it works well and haven't seen any problems.

I have two funnels used for the Lee Enfield water treatment however have never used them.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

I only use wipe-out on my milsurps when they get their once yearly complete disassembley and weather proofing. Wipe out will ruin the stock finish permanently if it gets on it.

Hoppes will turn shellac blue too if left on for a few seconds.

Hoppes #9 is more then sufficient to clean up after corrosive ammo.
Ballistol is another product I use it's the best all around cleaner/lube/preserver all in one. If it was good enough for the Germanicon Heer its good enough for me.
