    Enfields in British Police use.

After seeing the Enforcer thread I wondered if anyone had any stories or photos of Enfields in Britishicon Police use? This clip is a 2001 look back at the murder of PC George Russell by John Middleton at Oxenholme Station. The original 1965 footage shows more Enfield Riflesicon but I cant find it on line. Of the 3 Police officers that were sent to Oxenholme station, George Russell died as a result of his injuries, Pc Alex Archibald was shot in the head and suffered in constant pain untill Nov 2012 when he passed away from cancer and the Inspector was later promoted and and joined the firearms department. He unfortunatly took his own life with a service revolver at the Police Station due to his wife passing of cancer.

My farthers best friend Geoff Harrington disarmed Middleton after he was shot in the leg by another Police man, Geoff received a MBE in the early 1990s for his action in 1965.

If you check film footage of the "the great train robbery", some of the Police on the countryside searches can be seen with No4s.

IIRC there are one or two photos of Police with 4(T)s about, but in general its fairly rare before the 1990s for police to be seen armed at all - let alone with standard service rifles.
