At the last Reno gun show there was one for $1400. Didn't sell.

Reno isn't a particulalry affluent area though, plus you can own proper guns there in NV, not a lot of the neutered stuff we see in California, whihc means interest in milsurps ins't the highest

newcastle, I beg to differ. Lou Fascio's Reno Big Show is the largest gun show in the west coast area, is heavally attended and draws it's crowd from all over Ca and other surrounding states. Lots of milsurps and lots of buyers. Obviously you have never attended.

Ah........, you wouldn't understand Taff. Not unless you actually had one of these valuable, still totally sealed, unproofed sacks of grease and sticky paper that was appreciating in value daily in your sticky mitts!
As you pointed out Peter in your first post to comply with UK law the rifle has to be proofed which means unpacking cleaning the barrel and action at the very least so that it can be proof fired, once this has been done it is no longer a "virgin" and can't be sold as such.
I have a pristine No4 Mk2 (F) dated 2/54 , all matching including the magazine that I paid £250 a couple of years ago and that included a Parker Hale 8/53 windage rear sight.
I fully appreciate that in other countries the laws are different which means it is possible to buy a "Virgin" rifle but here in the UK would I pay the £1200 that Simon quoted for a rifle and a pile of sticky paper and grease the answer is no but if some else is prepared to do so then good luck to them, Virginity only happens once......

That's not quite correct Taff. I have one still wrapped up and sealed in the wrapping. Never been to the proof house in its life. So it can be done and lawfully owned.

HI Charlie (which oddly is my name also), I attend the big reno gun show regularly. Father in law lives in Reno and our visits to him from San francisco are coincidentally timed rather well. Wife thinks there are gun shows in reno every week because every time we've gone to visit there happens to be a gun show on. I t was probably a generalisation, but was basing my comment on both this show, the Crossroads of the west, and the stores in and around the area I check out which don't seem to have as much milsurp stuff going on as the stores here in CA. I stand corrected, though I do think the Old west / Black rifles interest tends to overshadow that in Milsurps - so basically I'm adding "in my limited experience" to my inital statement
