    The Christmas Lurker Returns

More often than not I lurk in these forums.
I deek in and out of conversations without anyone taking notice and in the odd circumstance I'll stab a comment and then disapear. Generaly I stay in the background until I find a thread I'm passionate about.

Thus I label myself a lurker.

Having said that I have been busy with other affairs of late. My son Adam (born sept 4th 2008) has been keeping me very busy. He's not 4 months old yet and he already owns Dad's mint 1946 No7Mk1.

Regardless when I come to these forums I always learn something. I've especially learned that I can't afford milsurps anymore

I'm now considered to be the milsurp guru in my home town. Often I receive e-mails and phone calls from complete strangers asking my advice on things milsurp. I read and read about this stuff to the point of anoyance.

So thanks to all of you for sharing your knowledge with me. I am a big supporter of learning initiatives and an opportunity for dialogue is rule Number One.

From my family to yours MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR. Thanks to Doug, Administrators and moderators and the global community that makes this such an important and dynamic information database.

Frankly its the best anyone will find on this small planet of ours.
Proud to know its a Canadianicon Owned!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Congrats for the new born! I remember when my first baby arrived, I barely knew how to change a diaper. Now, I'm father of 6, grand'pa of 2 and still changing diapers of my last born who's 2 years old. Like you, I mostly read'n'learn with an occasional post or two.

The wonderful things I learned here! My interest is more in builds but anything I can learn on milsurps is a good thing.

On this note, I wish you all a very merry Xmas!

PS For those who will either have a family member or themselves shipped to Afghanistan, I wish a safe tour. Who knows, you might even be next to my elder son who will be in his second tour with the R22R next March. If you go, please, play it safe! It's better talking WITH you, than talking ABOUT you.
