Call me stupid, but my MARINA ARGENTINA marked M1911 is serial C11.5XX - wouldn't this make it an earlier Argentineicon M1911 than yours?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Well, sure! I can call you whatever you wish. But your pistol is the from the first Argentine contract of any sort which was for outfitting the ship being built in the US for the Argentine Navy circa 1914. So it's not from the first Argentine Army contract!

It seems the Argentines shot their pistols quite frequently and in large volumes. Whether it was for training, giggles, or for matters more serious I don't know. But they surely have a high degree of not only finish wear but shooting wear and tear as well. Minor parts replacement is common. Barrels are often replacements or are in less than pristine condition.

The Argentines got the most out of their 1911 type pistols. Unlike the earlier Mannlicher pistols and many of their rifles, finding high condition Colts, 1927s and Ballister-Molinas is tough. (The Ballister variants seem to be the easiest of the lot, but many seem to have been refinished.)
