    New Zealand or Australia ???

A few may know I mentioned an interest in migrating down under, my first choice was NZ, can get extra points due to my brother being there, also been several times and been to Australia a few times also and worked there for 3-4 months.

I,m easy regarding were I live but recently maybe just the weather or riding through dog s**t most of last week, when out on my bike (it is part of the national cycle route) but is like a minefield you manage to miss one pile then hit another.

Its when the wife mentioned it (migrating) not the smell of me with dog s**t all up my back (lot be said about mud guards) I perked up a bit, and finished what i could for the EOI for NZ, just halfway through the Australianicon one also, and just completed a Passport application for the little one, so should be able to complete both EOI,s when her passport arrives.

The main reason for me wanting to go is for the Daughter, and the wife is also on that wave length now, as I said I,m easy as long as I can get a cold beer, and there is Sky TV (history, discovery channels etc) I,ve also looked into the Firearms laws in both country,s (think NZ does have an advantage !!) but again its for the daughter, just feel I can offer her a better chance, cleaner living, maybe a safer enviroment ?, and a better lifestyle.

So the question is for the forum members down there, which one would you go for, and any advice ?

My occupation is a Marine (ships ) Engineer, and that is on the short skills list for both, AUZ and NZ. so this is another deciding factor regarding work etc. I,ve been searching the internet the last week, but thought it best coming straight from the horses mouth would give me a better idea regarding places to settle, cost of living etc.

Just about anywhere is better with firearms laws then the UKicon. I myself have always liked New Zealandicon better. Great people and climate but you do have to watch out for earthquakes. lol.

NZicon has the better gun laws by far, pity they are on such shaky ground.

Haven't met very many but Aussies and NZrs seem to be very friendly. Am I correct that there are no venomious snakes in the land of the Kiwi? If so NZicon gets my vote.

Neither, nothing personal but move to Canadaicon, we are cold at times but our gun laws have just had a major revamp and although still lots of stupidty beyond belief they are improving.

    Hope that isn't political.

Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

I know this does not answer your question but there are other alternatives to the wonderful countries you mention. Being an ex Brit, ex South African, I'd recommend the USAicon as giving the best quality of life. I say this having lived on four continents and worked on five!

The USA is not that difficult to settle in, despite the appearance of the immigration policy. And unlike Australiaicon and New Zealand, they still speak English
