Handguard marking - Legit?

I've looked at a lot of RSG marked hanguards - seen them with and without the periods, but the spacing or something doesn't look quite right on this one. What do you guys think? - Bob

I just got back from digging in the attic for spare RSG HG to check. I only have eleven so not a large sample. I found three types of stamps. Large RSG, small RSG and small R.S.G.
All the size of letters and spacing match for their type.
If this is an early HG, maybe a hand stamp. RMC used a handstamp for early HG. I do not know if RSG did any hand jobs. Just thinking before all the "fake" shouts.

The circular "milling" mark looks similar to some I've seen, but a little different than the (2) that I have - probably doesn't mean all that much. The picture is from a current eBay auction and the handguard comes with an original SG brown wrapper, but don't know if it's the one it shipped in. The handguard is definitely in used condition, so the wrapper is probably just to "jazz up" the deal a bit. I don't know if the spare handguards were packaged before Saginaw Gear received them, or if they packaged them. It could be possible they received them from Irwin with the "R" already in place and then added the "S.G." It's probably legit, but I don't know. I bet those wrappers aren't all that common anymore. Doesn't have a narrow enough site groove.
Stamp is fake.

Look to the far left of the R S.G. stamp, You'll find the original small TN stamp.

I find most TN marks are lightly struck. You would think if he wanted to fake a stamping he would have removed it.

That's a shame since real TN hand guards are more rare than RSG going by my experience. The seller just has to be stupid, blind or both!

Thanks you guys! Now, I'm sorry for trying to make up a story to explain it. The same seller listed a Type 2 band a few days ago that obviously had problems. It's relisted now as a repro and the bidding is going much higher - maybe honesty has it's rewards! One last thing, do you suppose the RS.G. was added to make it look right for someone's own carbine, or to try increasing the resale value of the handguard? It doesn't seem to me like the value would be anymore as an RSG than as a TN. - Bob

The TN markings can be so hard to see.
Often when I pull one, I'll write TN on the metal tab.
