    L42 Lens Brush Bottle

May I congratulate the seller of this rare item for the eye watering sum of £1,131.00 (plus 2.00 post and packing). They say that something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and obviously someone wanted it big time, I wonder what they consider their L42 CES is actually worth now????????

Good lord - I wonder if the seller will see the cash for that one. Maybe someone's finger slipped when bidding. I reckon on balance I'd rather have a mk3 scope and bracket for around the same amount!

Oddly, the same seller's Zf41 went for rather less than I expected. Somebody got a pretty good deal. Maybe the same person? Even with cost averaging, that would be a stupidly expensive bit of plastic. Which, if exposed to light and air, will probably one of the first things to degrade in the CES...

Funnily enough the photos of the bottle reveal what appear to be a couple more in the bag!

I watched the auction end with amazement and almost spit my coffee onto my laptop. Auction was running about $250 US until that last couple of seconds and ended at almost $1800 US. I think two individuals wanted the bottle badly and put in what they thought was an outrageous sum. I would venture to guess that neither thought they would pay nearly that much for the elusive bottle.

Congrats to the seller!! He comes up with some beautiful items!! Let's see if the others he has bring that kind of money.

I really doubt the seller will get paid on that one.
The only problem is that both seller and buyer have to come to an agreement as commissions are due.

Container Pullthrough Lens Brush for Lee Enfield L42A1 Sniper CES | eBay

Offered for auction is the rarest of all the items from the CES of the L42A1 sniper rifle. This is a new and unopened CONTAINER, PULLTHROUGH, part number M3/1005-12-142-8021. Made from pure unobtanium. 90% of these were removed from the chest before the L42’s were sold off and the remainder suffered by being crushed between the lid and butt of the improperly inserted weapon as the lid was closed and locked down. It's called a Container, pullthrough but that is a throwback to its previous guise as part of the cleaning kit for the Charlie Gustav 84mm, hence the M3 stores category

The bottle is still sealed in the original packaging and I’ll show this in the photo but I have got to open it to photograph the actual bottle with the label fixed to it.

I have never ever seen one of these for sale anywhere, including ebay. This is usually the very last bit of the kit that collectors strive to obtain so here’s one of the very few, rare chances. Don’t think that there’ll be any more coming along next week, there won’t.

I have just weighed the bottle and it comes in at 1oz, I checked the price of gold today (29-01-13) and it is $1664.1 per oz which means that this piece of plastic is worth more than it's weight in gold!!!!!!! I wonder if the other two bottles shown in the origional pictures will achieve the same sort of price when they come up for sale?????
