Any Leatherwood M-1000 Shooters Out There ??

I really like the concept of this scope, and the fact it's a well proven design. I just wondered if there are any AR-15 shooters out there who are currently using it? From what I've read the quality and glass are both good, in spite of the fact it's manufactured in China. Jim Leatherwood purchased the company currently making it, and supervises construction.

If any of you are currently shooting a M-1000, or an M-1200 I would like to get your opinion of the scope.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. If I am not mistaken, Jim Leatherwood passed a few years back. Almost positive he is not overseeing scope production. Most of his original parts were purchased by Iron Site. They actually refurb original ART scopes. The Hi-Lux scopes are decent. I have one of their original 3x9 models, M-600 I believe. Nice little scope for the price.

Next purchase will be a SWFA SS scope. Those seem very good for the price, and the military had contracted them in the past, so worth a look see.

I know his son Corbett is heavily involved with the company. He is all over You Tube promoting his late fathers scopes, and demonstrating their use. That's good to see. Much like Ed Weatherby is doing with his fathers company. It's a bit rare to see companies do better under the childrens guidance than the founding father. Both Corbett and Ed have done so.

This is my current problem. I'm going to be scoping out either my Bushmaster Modular Carbine, or else my Colt 6940 Monolith. I can't decide on which scope I want. While I'm very attracted to the Leatherwood M-1000, I also like the Leupold Mark AR series, as well as the Super Sniper Models. If I go with anything besides the Leatherwood it will sit in Leupold Super High Steel Mark IV Rings.

That's yet another plus for the Leatherwood. It comes ready to mount. Just put in on and tighten the thumbscrews. No ring lapping or reticle leveling involved. The one nice thing about using the Leupold Super High Rings is I can leave the BUIS sights undisturbed on the rail. It's not a big deal to remove them. But if I don't have to I would prefer that. The Leatherwood does not allow me that option.
