I was there while I was in the Military about 25 years ago.
I took my crew to a small shop to hunt for gifts to send home. I had noticed that many of the buildings in town had "pock" marks, and obvious damage to the walls etc. I asked about it, and the shop keeper told me "that son of a bitch George Patton did that to us" to which I replied, had he not done that, you might be speaking German
today, and which point she threw us out of the store and said never come back. So we did!

Notice the formed bloused pants leg over the boots on some of the troops. Seems odd that front line troops still practiced garrison ways. Ray
