Give them a rattle and see if they're interested. They probably don't even know it's out there. On the other hand, it may show as being brought back and then disappearing. That happened too. The MG'08 over in Digby was cemented into the ground after it's predecessor disappeared...that's even on the plate. Two howitzers in a small park in Esquimalt BC came to replace their predecessors in 1916 after the originals "Disappeared"...how does that happen? So, give them a call...

I have an LMG 08/15. The weapon is live, legally registered, and fully transferrable. It is fired from a home made cradle and mounted on an M2 tripod. According to what I could determine, the LMG was manufactured in November of '17. I got the weapon from an older gentleman living near Ft. Hood Texas. The Browning guys went crazy when they saw the M2 tripod. It seems that tripod has a Canadianicon aluminum cross head that was only previously seen on Canadian Army sleigh mounts. Plenty of unique and crazy stuff comes out of Ft. Hood. Anyway, here's my LMG:

Fort Hood has been used as a training ground by Canadian Forces for years, so it is not a surprise that a unique to Canadaicon piece of kit would come out of there.

I'm more surprised that no one remarked on the fact that your MG08/15 appears to be an aircraft gun... does it have any synchronization gear left?

A friend purchased a single man tracked aircraft bomb loading vehicle at one of their auctions for next to nothing. It was listed as "parts only, dead, and not capable of operation" at the auction. My friend owns a farm and at once recognized the engine in the bomb loader as a Ford 4 cylinder tractor engine. When he got the tracked vehicle home, he simply rebuilt the engine with a Ford rebuild kit and re-sealed the hydraulic lines. He sold the loader's hydraulic arm assembly for more than he paid for the entire rig, including the rebuild kit. He now runs around his farm on a tracked vehicle. How can you beat that?

Sadly, no synchronizer gear was included with the LMG. Since the LMG charging handle assembly is unique to the type of plane installation, we tried to use that to determine what model of plane it came from. We were unsuccessful.

David Watts in Indianapolis is the go to guy when it comes to LMGs. He owns/runs Watts Train Shop.

Nice shipping crate. Is that built from drawings? Is it original?

I have no clue. All I know is that David Watts was providing them a while back. From what I can remember, this was how LMGs were provided to airframe builders and how armorers cared for them. Each pilot was very particular on how his MGs were set up and cared for. Some had 08/15 boosters and some have 08 boosters. I found that piece of information very interesting. I have two original 08 booster pistons and they have different sized orifices. I assume the smaller the orifice, the more boost and higher rate of file. I know that's true with an MG34. It would also be true with an LMG.
