    1891 Mauser Identification Help??

I bought this 1891 Argentineicon Mauser about a year ago with the intent of restoring it. I am pretty sure that the only sporterization that has been done is the shortening of the stock. I have been looking for a replacement ever since, and as I am sure most of you Argentine Mauser guys know, they are rare.

I just learned today that there were several versions of the 91 Argentine Mauser, all varying in barrel length. I have some pictures of mine that I will upload and I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me identify this gun and maybe determine if the barrel has been shortened. Thanks!!!!!

Shame about that stock, looks to be unissued.

The barrel of a full sized 1891 is 29.13 inches so it is no longer full sized.

The barrel of an 1891 carbine is 17.63 inches so it isn't that either.

That's all the information I have on them and based on that, it's a full sized rifle that was cut down.

Well, what confused me the most is that Numrich offers 5 different "original" military barrel lengths. 91 ARGENTINE. Accessories | Numrich Gun Parts

And at first glance, the front sight more closely resembles that of the carbine. After looking at several photos of other guns today, I realized the very obvious detail that my Mauser has the full length rifle's rear sight. I looked more closely at the muzzle of my rifle and I noticed the turning marks from a lathe and where a previous owner had used a center drill on the muzzle. Yup, she's a sporter. There's not turning back now. I guess the only thing left to do with her now is to coat her in preserving oil and set her on the shelf.

    Thanks for the help, guys.

Take it out and shoot it. Not doing any good sitting on a shelf.

Ah, heck, I've got so many other guns that I'd rather shoot, I'll just admire this one. I just LOVE my K31icon!!!!!
